Wyeth's Prempro Faces First Lawsuit
Linda Reeves took the hormone replacement drug Prempro to protect her from osteoporosis. She was diagnosed with breast cancer 6 years ago and filed a suit against Wyeth, the manufacturer of the drug. The suit alleges that Wyeth misrepresented the health benefits of the drugs, didn't do adequate studies, and didn't disclose the risks involved. The trial begins Aug. 21st.
Approximately 4,500 lawsuits have been filed against Wyeth over hormone replacement therapy. Reeves' case marks the beginning of what could be a long process of resolving the cases in courts.
